Salinas - City of Ecuador
Salinas is a coastal city located in the Province of Santa Elena, Ecuador. It is the seat of the canton that bears its name. The westernmost city on mainland Ecuador, Salinas is an important tourist center.
The economy of Salinas is largely tourist based. With a average year-round temperature of 24°C (80°F) and its location on the Pacific Ocean, the beach of Salinas are popular resort destination in Ecuador. Beaches near Salinas include San Lorenzo, Las Palmeras, Chipipe, Mar Bravo, and Punta Carnero. Popular tourist activities in Salinas include game fishing, wake-boarding, water skiing, yachting, sky diving, and laying on the beach. The city offers a number of restaurants and cafes on its boardwalk, as well as artisan crafts markets. A small naval archeological museum with artifacts from pre-Columbian Ecuador is also in Salinas.
